Hard Times Call for Heroes: We Explore Type Themes Found in Positive Resistance & Activism
The Enneagram Can Help Us Expand Hearts, Minds & Systems
We can see that folks have varying responses to the authoritarian abuse of The Precariously Free People of this Country, but if educated about our own preferred values and natural skills, we can also make unique effective contributions to the movement back to freedom. This academic year, we find Models of Hope and Encouragement in 9 Selections on Good Character. How do people find resilience?
Meet inspiring activists like fictional hero Type One Idealist in Conclave’s Cardinal Thomas Lawrence—- showing us that certain Heart/ Head/ Gut values can thwart the oppressors, recruit allies, and effectively support change for the greater good. We’ll also celebrate Shirley Chisholm (1st black woman presidential candidate) who frequently just cut to the chase: “I don’t need your love, I need your vote!” as we explore Type 3 Themes and see how they and we might connect with others to support positive change. Meet Harvey Milk (America's 1st openly gay elected city official) who cheered: “You gotta give ‘em hope!” as we explore Type 7 Themes and see how they and we might plan our advocacy strategically and with joy; this alongside the surprisingly late rising of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. Witness the career and public ministry of Fred Rogers (Tireless Children’s Public TV Advocate) who included us all: “It’s you I like. Won’t you be my neighbor?” as we explore Type 9 Themes and see how they and we might still enact a broader vision for all.
