IEA LIVE: The Neuroscience Behind
The Holy Ideas and Fixations
Description
Join us for this special IEA LIVE Event on The Neuroscience Behind the Holy Ideas and Fixations with Presenter Adelaida HarrisonÂ
Human beings tend to separate science from spirituality, and for that reason many times Enneagram teachers prefer to avoid the subject of holy ideas, and Enneagram fixations.
The Enneagram presents the idea that each personality type possessing in essence a special way of viewing reality when this one is not distorted. It is a mental quality that's known as Holy Idea. In modern terms, it is the healthy vision that the Self has of reality when the individual is in contact with his essence. Upon loss of contact with it, the fixation or toxic thought pattern develops, according to Evagrius, which originates the specific passion of each personality. In other words, thoughts generate an emotion that, in the case of the Holy Idea, will be the characteristic virtue of each personality and, in the case of mental fixation, will be the belief that gives rise to the passion associated with each type.
In this session, I will share in a simple and practical way what neuroscience proposes to understand how the fixations of each type are generated and sustained and what we can do to transform our mental schemes by regulating our conscious attention system.
