Event description

Move beyond the personality map and into the personal territory.
Discover the universal themes accessible and applicable to us all on the human journey.
Expand your community of friends who talk type, character development, arts and literature.

The Enneagram is a map to universal inner and outer territories.  While we often gravitate to certain regions, we visit them all daily throughout our lives. Join this program to find and experience where the map is leading you; all through an exploration of amazing characters and meaningful themes in great film and literature.

Now in its sixth year, this program explores the themes described in the Nine Points of View, along with a novel or film each month. Along with one evening teaching session, these are small group explorations on the Nine Types in Depth, using specific literature and film to enhance our understanding of ourselves and others. The book or movie may offer a character who generally exemplifies an Enneagram type's values, or it may explore themes that relate to an Enneagram type's area of attention, motivations and life themes, vice to virtue shifts, or paths to disintegration and development.  Because we have all points of view available to us, most participants each month find something relevant, moving and meaningful to examine in their own lives.

We believe that deep learning and change happens over time in a continuous supportive learning community.

This is a tried and true community exploration on The Humanities, using the Enneagram as its foundation and direction. The map of the Enneagram and experience with The Arts can provide our entry to universal life themes and meaning amongst us all. Join for this and all the other benefits of community membership.  This year, we focus on the good: We Are All So Beautiful!

Self-Study in Your Own Nest
Each month on your own, you will join the course management system to review a few handouts and brief videos on the month's type along with Dale's reflections on the novel/film. You also arrange to experience the chosen book/film (often available for free in our public libraries or on streaming sites to which you are already subscribed search google/bing or IMDb along with the title for streaming options).  A few prepared questions are available for your self-reflection and for use in your one-to-one and group discussions.  Welcome to the Self-Preservation Instinct experience of this class! >

Pairs in A Pear Tree
You also commit to meeting with a different member each month at a time of your choosing in order to further explore content, reflections and responses to the class sessions. A schedule is created for this at the beginning of the term. This is a great interdisciplinary way to expand your understanding of the Nine Points of View in your own life.  And it is a way to explore personality and humanities with people from different points of view.  Many students say that the one-to-ones are the most meaningful part of the year's experience. Because we connect this way, we do not do a check-in at groups--- we get right to the content of the session. And if you miss a session, you are in a buddy system.  Welcome to the One-To-One Instinct experience of this class!

Our Feathers Flock Together
Meet the Types!  At the new 1st Wednesdays all-community teaching sessions,Dale Rhodes will provide a short teaching on the type of the month and engage participants in type panels to explore themes and facets of the type and that month's novel/film.

In the 2nd of the Month small groups, we have 45 minutes for any who may want to share their own reflections without crosstalk, we take a 10 minute comfort break, and afterwards move into open lively dialogue! There is plenty of time for reflections, reactions, questions and deeper delving amongst the participants.  Dale Rhodes facilitates each group session.  Welcome to the Social Navigating Instinct experience of this class!

All sessions occur online. To protect confidentiality of all participants, no program is ever recorded.
