Event description

Katherine first encountered the Enneagram in 1985, but she was already well-versed in the concept of processes. At that time, she hadn't understood what she observed regarding the "Enneagram of Process," and she wasn't familiar with Gurdjieff's Enneagram. However, she firmly believed in the interconnectedness of all things in life and the universe. While the systems she had previously learned about involved steps, the Enneagram seemed to succinctly name those steps simply yet profoundly, making them tangible and comprehensible.

The Enneagram types and their descriptions are not random. Beginning with type 9, each type folds into the next, creating a beautiful series of transitions and phenomenal patterns that describe the inner world of the types.

Her theory proposed that the Enneagram served as a map, a nine-fold path starting from the state of Oneness—the origin of the journey—with steps leading to completion, resulting in transformation and a renewed relationship with Oneness. The initiation began by departing from the state of Union and Oneness at 9, symbolizing the completeness of wholeness. Changes occurring along the way influenced the journey and the process of being and becoming. The culmination at 9 represented the conclusion of the journey, a transformation from the moment of initiation, and the nine distinct aspects of Oneness represented the steps along this path, with completion signifying a return to Oneness.

Katherine's hypothesis was that the Enneagram amalgamated the principles of one, three, and seven, collectively providing a map of the process. She discerned that the process's inception and conclusion both centered on type 9. It commenced with the initial urge or impulse emerging from the neutral state of type 9, transitioning into the active state of type 1, and flowing sequentially through types 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, culminating in a return to type 9. Consequently, the 9 symbolized the outset, the nine steps constituting the process that ultimately led to the conclusion at type 9.

In 1996, Katherine attended Claudio Naranjo's intensive in Boulder, Colorado. During this event, she inquired if her interpretation aligned with the Enneagram's essence. She shared her perspective, suggesting that it could be applied to the spiritual journey of awakening and fundamental concepts in daily life. Claudio Naranjo concurred with her viewpoint regarding the Enneagram of Process. He used an example of a tree. Ironically, so had Katherine beginning in 1985 as it was a simple way to explain the process.
