Event description
Trauma Awareness In Coaching aims to help you become more sensitive to trauma, whether in yourself or in your client and to help you realize that trauma need not be the daunting ogre that so many fear. [Ironically, the word itself can be traumatizing]. Expect to learn how to spot trauma when it rears its ugly head and to gain the confidence to hold a safe space for you and your client when it does. Our hope is, that by the end of the course, when working with a client experiencing trauma, you will have the compassion to allow the trauma to be identified and embraced, and the confidence to refer the client to a higher level of care if necessary.
Below are key topics to be explored over this 8-week program:
- What is trauma and why is it important for coaches to be able to recognize trauma in a coaching session
- Skills a coach can develop to recognize trauma in a client during a coaching session
- Skills and practices a coach can employ when trauma has been activated in a coaching session
- Accessing the Three Centers of Intelligence (Head, Heart, Body) within yourself and within a client experiencing trauma during a coaching session
- Recognizing when to hold the space and when to refer a client experiencing trauma to another specialist
This course is designed for people experienced in the growth professions including: executive coaches, life coaches, organizational consultants, therapists and spiritual directors.
Approved for 12 ICF CCE Units.
