Join us for this special IEA LIVE Event on Finding Freedom: Authentic Relationships Using Tools from Object Relations with presenter Belinda Gore. 

Learning about Object Relations helps us untangle relationships, showing us how we become reactive when current events trigger old patterns.  Those patterns are revealed in a matrix of nine Enneagram types showing the underlying Object Relations pattern for each type.  Object Relations theory tells us we begin developing our Enneagram type structures in early childhood through interactions with key people in our lives.  The matrix identifies the characteristics of the people  we focus on and the dominant emotion we feel when we’re interacting with them. Much like two-by-fours that form the structure of a house, those interactions and the emotions they evoke are the building materials for our unique personalities.  We might say the Enneagram system defines a set of nine blueprints and we use our Object Relations interactions to construct the house.

Without awareness, we repeat those patterns throughout our lives, believing, “It’s just who I am.”  To make the soul-enriching shift toward authentic, deeply contactful interactions - clearly expressing our own point of view while holding an open heart for other's experience - requires new tools. We’ll explore how to recognize when your Object Relations patterns are activated and how to use specific techniques to release the obstructions to more authentic and satisfying relationships.

 About the Speaker:

Belinda Gore began studying the Enneagram with Don Riso and Russ Hudson in 1990, and has been a student of the Diamond Approach with Sandra Maitri since 2006.  A former IEA Board member, Belinda is an IEA Accredited Professional with Distinction. She teaches live virtual courses on Object Relations and the Enneagram and will release her new book, Finding Freedom in Authentic Relationships: A Life-Changing Exploration of Object Relations and the Enneagram, in 2023.
